Weekly Message #2-20

Shadow or no shadow?

This week marks the halfway mark of a year which has brought many challenges in our communications with each other.  The loss of our time to meet and discuss topics of importance as a full staff has left a communication void.  I appreciate the sensitivity and trust that we show each other as we try to deal respectively and professionally with the restrictions that job action has placed on all of us.

Articulation is in full swing and I want to say thank you to everyone who contributes to making this “rite of passage” a success for our grade 7’s.  Thanks especially to Paul and Richard for walking the kids over to DT in the pouring rain last week.  As the second half of the year unfolds, we will be making plans for our Grade 7 “Grad”.  As most of you know, we did not sign up for a grad cruise this year and instead we are looking at putting together an on site celebration which includes all staff and parents in a more meaningful way.  One representative from each grade 7 class will be meeting with Paul and me in the near future to put together some suggestions or a survey for grade 7’s about what they would like to have.  We’ll keep you all informed as it unfolds.

Congratulations to the Canadian Womens’ Soccer Team who qualified for the Olympics by beating Mexico this weekend.

  1. Patti will be attending a Smartboard Administrators’ group at Livingstone afterschool on Tuesday.  This group is looking at ways to continue to support classroom use of Smartboards
  2. Grade 2’s will receive a “Do Bugs Need Drugs?” presentation on Wednesday between 1 and 3.  Two groups will be formed for a 30 – 40 minute presentation.
  3. Groundhog Day on Thursday – what will be our winter fate?

Happy Four Day Week Everyone!
