Weekly Message #3-4

The Marathon of Hope

We managed to tick off a couple of our September events last week.  It seems I got the calendar a bit mixed up as some people had different dates for Meet the Teacher and Terry Fox.  Sorry about that.  However, I’m glad that both events were a success.  Classroom numbers for Meet the Teacher ranged from 2 – 13 or 14 per class.  Harjinder is having her “Meet the Teacher” on Monday night and after that the winners of ice cream will be announced.  We were very pleased to sign up about 20 parents to attend our PAC meeting this week.  Let’s hope they follow through!

We were blessed with a beautiful day for our Terry Fox Run.  Thanks to all of our staff for supporting this event and helping out by collecting money until the end of this week.

I know that many of you are concerned about the dismal state of our SSSA schedule.  I share your concerns!  I have had several conversations with the District office about ways to improve our schedule and to better meet the needs of our students.  I will continue to lobby on behalf of our staff and kids and will let you know how we fare.  I appreciate the support of our Inclusion consultant, Pat Sykes who has already made one visit and will be returning to provide more ideas.

Thanks to our new Pro-D committee for getting organized so quickly.  I believe we can look forward to a “Mind Up” training day next Monday.  We will be checking with you to see how many books and chimes we need to order to support the program.  If you haven’t already done so,  take a moment to read the article I handed out at our first meeting.  There are lots of great insights into how Mind Up can work for students.  Also, if you are interested in visiting a Mind Up classroom “in action”, let me know and I’ll see what I can arrange.

Kudos to all of you who are helping with Cross Country and Soccer this fall term.  The Moberly students are so lucky to have your time and support.  Special thanks to Dan for his role in supporting our extra curricular sports programs.

  1. Patti and Jane will be at the Superintendent’s meeting this Wednesday.  Paul will be in charge while we are out of the building.

Have an awesome week everyone.!
