Weekly Message #3-8

Please take note of our new bulletin boards in the staffroom.  This is a place where we can share pictures, thoughts, ideas and resources that make us SMILE.  With the gray, wet weather coming, we all need to look for ways to bring in some sunshine!

Now that the rainy weather is with us, intermediate students are being asked to gather in the lunch room instead of in the hallways.  Based on last year’s hallway experiences, they seemed to be the group that was the noisiest and had the most trouble with behaviour.  If you have any games or activities you’d like to donate to the lunchroom, please let me know and we’ll put some stuff down there for them to do.  I will ask Kelly to give you all 3 hall passes.  If you have 3 or fewer students who want to work on homework outside your classroom on rainy days, they can do so with their passes.  Jane and I will do our best to work with the supervision aides to support this plan.  Your support in working with us is always appreciated.

We have almost finished selecting the members for this year’s Student Council.  I hope to announce their names on Monday.

EVENTS THIS WEEK:

  1. Renee Diemert here to meet with teachers of aboriginal students at recess on Monday in Peggy’s resource room.
  2. PAC meeting on Tuesday morning in the library from 9:00 – 10:00
  3. Area meeting this Wednesday morning.  Jane and Patti will be at the VSB.  Paul is in charge.
  4. Patti and Jane will also attend the Governance meeting for the Community Schools Team at JO on Thursday morning from 7:30 – 9:00 a.m.
  5. District Earthquake Drill on Thursday morning.  This will be an indoor drill only.  Please remind students of appropriate procedures.
  6. If you have not already done so, please inform Brenden (our Pro-D Chair) of what you will be doing on Friday’s pro-d day (and where you will be).  CUPE staff members should let Patti know their plans.  It is important that we are accountable for this time.

Have a great week everyone!
