Weekly Message #3-33

my-brain-is-full-300x272I am reminded of one of my favourite Far Side cartoons  (see graphic)  Apparently my brain is so full that I got the dates mixed up for the presentation at the Sikh Temple.  I thought it was this weekend but it is next Sunday, June 2nd.  Let me know if I miss any other dates / commitments!  This time of year is so extraordinarily busy for all of us.  I am thankful for your patience as we forge ahead through the last 5 weeks!

Please take note of the class casting dates I have put in your boxes.  It is a challenge to find times for everyone when there are so many events / field trips happening.  If you have a serious conflict, let me know and we’ll do our best to adjust the schedule.

EVENTS THIS WEEK:

  1. Student Assembly led by Div. 7 at 11:00 on Monday.
  2. Meeting for all teachers who signed up for Summer School at lunch on Monday in the library.
  3. Meeting for Gr. 7 teachers to discuss plans for grad in Patti’s office at lunch on Tuesday.
  4. Patti will be at a workshop at the VSB on Wednesday morning.
  5. Volunteer Tea this Thursday.  Please take the time to come down at recess to mingle with our volunteers and let them know how we value their support.  Thanks in advance to Gwen for planning another wonderful volunteer event.
  6. Henry will take 2 students to the annual VEPVPA book presentation on Thursday afternoon.
  7. Health & Safety meeting Friday at 8:15.

Have a great week everyone.

Remembrance

Mother,
as I walk through the journey of life,
I remember.
I remember how you helped me to grow
with love, truth, and honesty.
I remember how you helped me to choose the right path
with values, morals, and self worth.
I remember how you gave me dreams
with hope and confidence.

Here’s hoping that all of you mothers out there have had a wonderful day this weekend (in spite of the rain).  Adam is doing his driver training course today so I am looking forward to a lovely family dinner tonight.

Friday was a productive day – the draft calendar has been submitted, staffing is almost complete and the draft of the school plan is out there for your input.  Hopefully I will be able to put the final touches on the staffing plan on Monday and will share the organization with names attached before it’s submitted on Tuesday.  Thanks to everyone for your input and flexibility.

A big congrats to Dana and her class who will be presenting “The Living Anonymous” – their biennale project.  I am looking forward to seeing it!

If you have not already done so, it would be appreciated if you could work with your class to come up with an idea for this Friday’s Oompa Loompa Day.  Your participation can be very simple but would mean a lot to Student Council and will help to build positive school spirit.

EVENTS THIS WEEK:

  1. Literacy Interest group meeting Tuesday morning
  2. Ready Set Learn – 2nd session this Tuesday afternoon
  3. Patti & Henry will be at the area meeting this Wednesday.  Paul is in charge
  4. Ooompa Loompa Day this Friday.  Let’s have some fun with it!

Have a great week everyone.

Weekly Message #3-30

imagesWhat a beautiful weekend – endless sunshine and finally some warm temperatures.  I hope you all had a chance to spend some time outdoors.  It’s a busy week coming up so we’ll all need that energy to get things done!

Thanks everyone for your cooperation on our Earthquake Drill day.  Things seemed to go relatively smoothly and we certainly made lots of notes on things we need to improve / change.  If you have any feedback, please email or give it to Henry this week.  We will collate and circulate what we have for further discussion.

Moberly Idol has been moved to Thursday, May 23rd.  Please make sure to keep this day free so you can enjoy all that talent!  Thanks to Dean and the organizing committee for making this fun event happen.

I am struggling to find a time for us to discuss the calendar.  Time is running out.

EVENTS THIS WEEK:

  1. Supervision Aide meeting after recess on Monday
  2. Pro-D committee meeting on Monday at lunch in Sousana’s room.
  3. Literacy interest group meeting on Tuesday morning – see daily bulletin for details.
  4. Treat Day on Tuesday at lunch.  Come and enjoy some sweet and/or savoury snacks courtesy of the basement and office staff.  Maybe we could do the calendar then?  I’ll let you know.
  5. Patti will be at a meeting at the VSB on Wednesday morning.
  6. Staffing meeting at lunch on Wednesday.  The final staffing organization is due to the VSB by May 14th.
  7. Pro-D day this Friday.  Teaching staff should make sure that Brenden knows their plans.  All other staff need to let Patti know.

Have a great week everyone.
