Weekly Message #5-13

images-2It’s hard to believe that we have only been back a week.  As usual, we have packed everyday with activities for ourselves and our students.  We start this week with sadness in our hearts as we have learned of the passing of Sousana’s young nephew, Peter.  I know that many of you will be in touch with her in the coming days – Moberly has always been a caring place and your kindness to others is much appreciated.

On a happier note, I wanted to let you know that two different on call employees have commented to me in the last week about the kindness and positive nature of our students.  I know that we have been spending a lot of time recently discussing hallway and playground behaviour and we will continue to brainstorm ways to  maintain our high expectations of our students. However, they really are a great bunch of kids and the ongoing feedback and support they receive from staff is a big part of who they are at school.  Thank you.

Tyson Shmyr is our new Community Link Coordinator (replacing Chris Fuoco).  I will be meeting with him to discuss Moberly’s support needs on Friday at 9:30 at MacKenzie.  Please pass on any ideas you might have about the Community Link programs.

The FSA is coming up soon and Karl will be assisting you in setting up times to do the online portion of the tests.  Stay tuned for a short meeting to outline this year’s plan.  Please jot down any questions you have for that meeting.

  1. Patti will be at a meeting at the VSB later on Monday afternoon (leaving at 2 ish)
  2. Aboriginal Education School Based Team meetings this week on Tuesday and Friday.  Agendas were placed in boxes last week.  Meetings will be held in 104
  3. David Thompson Articulation breakfast on Wednesday at 8:00 for selected staff.
  4. Attendance Support Program Staff Meeting on Wednesday at lunch in the staffroom.  All staff should attend.
  5. Finance Committee meeting this Friday in Room 104.    The budget has finally arrived from the VSB so we can go ahead and make some plans for our spending.
