Weekly Message #7-12

imgres-1Last weekend in November – time goes so quickly.   Most reports are read and done – thank you for your efforts and the thoughtful way you have communicated to parents.

Hopefully this will be a quiet week – not too much scheduled.

Reporting was a hot topic at last week’s Superintendent’s meeting.  Please be assured that we are in complete compliance with district expectations at this time.  A district committee will be meeting before the break to begin the process of providing expectations and templates for the remainder of the year – particularly for year end.  They expect to have something to share with us by late January / early February.  We will pass on to you as soon as information is available.

As indicated in the daily bulletin, Karl and I will again be offering you the gift of time on the last day of school.  Intermediates will be with me in the big gym watching “Kubo and the Two Strings” and the Primaries will be with Karl in the small gym to see “Ice Age : Collision Course”.  We will call students down at 9:30 and keep them until about 11:20 – 11:30.  Please be prepared to have them back at that time.  Primary teachers should pick up their students in the small gym.  Intermediates will make their way back to classes.  Students should bring what they for recess to the gym when they come down.

The PAC will be providing delicious treats for staff on that day between 10:30 and 11:00 so please drop in and be “appreciated”.

EVENTS THIS WEEK:

  1. SSA meeting on Friday at 8:15 in the library.

Have a great week everyone!

Weekly Message #7-11

imgresIt was a sad day for BC Lions fans as our football team was trounced by Calgary.  Oh well… maybe next year!  As usual, the weekend has flown by.  Today’s message is coming to you later than usual as the VSB website was down for most of the day for maintenance.

We look forward to a performance on Monday morning from a Theatre Sports group – it should be fun and interesting to see our kids become part of the show.

Karl and I look forward to reading your report cards this week – please let us know if you will be late submitting them so we can plan our reading time.

Students will be asked to vote for their favourite Superheroes this Friday – Primaries at recess and Intermediates at lunch.  We appreciate your patience if kids are a little late arriving back to class if there is a big line up.  Each child who votes will receive a small token gift.

EVENTS THIS WEEK:

  1. Theatre Sports at 9:30 in the new gym.
  2. Patti & Karl at the area meeting on Wednesday morning.  Jane is in charge.
  3. Health & Safety meeting this Friday morning at 8:15 in the staff room.

Have a great week everyone!

Weekly Message #7-10

img_1153Last week’s Remembrance Day Assembly was a thing of beauty.  Thank you to everyone who helped to make it so memorable including Maria and her class for the decorations, Karl, Tim and the AV team for coordinating our sound needs and the teachers and students who performed so beautifully.  Also, thank you to all the teachers for communicating the serious nature of the assembly and reinforcing the positive behaviour that we rely on for this time together.  Finally,  a million thanks to Jane for her outstanding leadership in putting together the ceremony, music, performers and script – we are so grateful for you.

Only 5 more weeks until Winter break – Yikes!  Where has the time gone?  We are heading in to report card time and all the upcoming excitement / stress of the pre-holiday season.  Remember to take time for yourselves.  Please note that Karl will be reading even divisions and I will be reading odds.  All resource reports should be handed in to me.

Wish lists are in your boxes as discussed at the last Staff Committee meeting.  The PAC have money and are busy making more!  The more specific your requests, the more likely we can support them with funding.

EVENTS THIS WEEK:

  1. PAC Meeting on Tuesday night – staff are welcome to attend if they wish.
  2. SBT with Deanne Yee on Wednesday at 11:00 in Room 103.  Agendas have been distributed.
  3. Prep coverage for many classes on Wednesday afternoon – primaries with Patti and intermediates with Karl.
  4. PAC Hot lunch this Friday.

Have a great week everyone!
